The state of Ohio may not be known for its incredible natural beauty or outstanding attractions, but it is indeed a state full of excellent colleges and universities. Many of them are located in Ohio's big cities like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, or Columbus, while others have pristine campuses in picturesque small towns.
Ohio State University, with its main campus in Columbus, is among the best state universities in the nation. OSU's graduate programs, in particular, are ranked extremely high and the school is among the top 20 in the country for granting doctorates to both African American and Native American students. Total enrollment including all campuses is about 58,000 and students can major in just about anything. Ohio State's College of Medicine is especially extensive.
At least four dozen additional small and medium-sized colleges and universities dot the state, including liberal arts school like the Methodist-affiliated Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Heidelberg College in Tiffin with its innovative Historic and Military Archaeology program, and the Quaker-founded Wilmington College, continuously found in the top tier of comprehensive colleges in the Midwest.
