Architecture Colleges and Universities.

Our database currently includes Architecture colleges, universities, technical and vocational schools.

Do you have an artistic eye and an attention for detail? Bring art and science together in the profession of architecture. Architects are responsible for designing the places where we live, work, shop and play. From homes to hospitals, from schools to shopping malls, an architect builds dreams and makes them reality.

Students interested in architecture must obtain a professional degree from one of the 117 schools that have degree programs accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Professional schools may offer a five-year Bachelor of Architecture program, a two-year Master of Architecture program or even a three- to four-year Master of Architecture program for students with an undergraduate degree in another discipline. A typical Bachelor's program includes courses in:

  • Architectural history and theory
  • Building design
  • Construction methods
  • Math
  • Physical sciences
  • Liberal arts

Architects need to communicate their ideas visually to clients. Artistic ability is helpful, but not required. More importantly, an architect should be visually oriented and have the ability to conceptualize and understand spatial relationships.

Licensing requirements include a professional degree in architecture, a period of internship and a passing score on all divisions of the Architect Registration Examination (ARE). Candidates who pass the ARE and meet all standards established by their state board become licensed to practice in that state.
