Kevin Kuzma, Editor-in-Chief, KEY Magazine

College pretty much paved the way to a dream job for Kevin Kuzma, who is editor-in-chief of KEY Magazine. After stints as a newspaper editor, freelance journalist and public relations professional, Kevin stepped into the publications world with KEY. Now he works alongside a half-dozen designers and more than 20 creative writers to entertain and enlighten high school readers following the curvy path to college.

Kevin is an avid reader of books and a music fan. His favorite authors include Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Jack Kerouac and Natalie Goldberg. His favorite musicians include Bob Dylan, The Who, Modest Mouse and Kevin Devine. Outside of KEY, his writing has appeared in The Kansas City Star, Urban Times Magazine and several online literary journals and forums. He graduated from Park University in May of 1998 with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Political Science.

“College was the experience that opened my eyes to the larger person I could be. I spent most of my life living in the shadows of others, but I learned to embrace that by turning inward to the way I saw the world. I thought I knew going into college what I wanted to do with my life, and I did … but the collegiate process proved it to me without a doubt. If you’re going to dedicate your life to something, you better make sure you enjoy it and it fulfills you. Our magazine does that for me. I’m thankful I can play my part in helping so many students choose better lives for themselves.”

    Hi there:

I’ve been reading your stuff for quite some time now, and I’ve always been impressed with both the depth and breadth of information that you cover; especially in the educational realm.

My name is Joel and I’m with a company called CampusCompare – a free online resource dedicated to helping high school juniors and seniors pick the perfect college. We offer a number of fun, interactive and, most importantly, free tools to help students figure out the best place for them to go. We cover roughly 3,000 colleges and universities throughout the country and are backed by trusted and dependable information from the department of education, the schools themselves and even the students.

We also have a resources section in which we write our own original content on everything from athletics to entertainment to trends. I’d love to explore how we can work together, whether through guest content, coverage, blog roll or other.

Are you available to chat about this? I could give you a call anytime tomorrow or Thursday. Please let me know when works best….

    Kind Regards,

    Joel
