The California College Scene - An Exclusive U.S. College Search Report
The Golden State of California proudly boasts the most top-rated universities and colleges of any state. More students attend college here than any other state … and why not? No matter where you travel in the state, the scenery is beautiful, the weather pleasant and the lifestyle is laid-back. If you can stand the traffic, major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego offer a plethora of cultural opportunities. Smaller towns offer smaller institutions of higher learning, perfect for those seeking a more intimate learning atmosphere. The choices here are endless, from mega state systems to world-renowned private colleges, large and small.
California's state systems are immense. The University of California (UC) system, for example, totals 11 campuses, and at least 8 of them appear regularly on lists of the nation's top 100 colleges and universities.
Though many choose California's wonderful state-supported schools, there are so many excellent private schools and colleges in California that may not always make the "best of" lists but are excellent in their own right for a number of reasons. Many are in the lovely northern part of the state, including the wonderful city of San Francisco and surrounding areas.
Several dozen additional colleges dot the vast California landscape, many of them part of the state's excellent community college system and others small, private, liberal arts-based colleges. In some cases, it seems that each little town boasts its own college and many are worth a look if you're considering a small college experience, either non-denominational or religious-affiliated.
