About Community Health Liaison Colleges:
A community health worker (CHW) is a layperson who acts as a liaison between residents of a particular community and the health-care system. They help to cross language barriers, economic barriers, and knowledge barriers to help people obtain the health care they need. Certificate programs include courses on aging, women's health, drug abuse, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. These workers often serve on a volunteer basis but they may be employed by a local hospital or government agency.
