About Cytotechnologist Colleges:
Peering through a microscope, the cytotechnologist examines human cells for evidence of disease. For example, this technologist checks a cervical specimen taken in a "Pap test" to see if there are any precancerous cells. Or blood cells may be examined for signs of sickle-cell anemia, leukemia, or other disorders. Training for this laboratory work includes classes in microbiology and lab techniques. The study in genetics, cytometry, or other subjects may qualify you to do even more specialized work in this field.
