About Health and Medical Laboratory Technologies Colleges:
To be precise, a health laboratory technician tests tissue and fluid specimens to diagnose contagious diseases or disorders that require treatment, while a medical laboratory technician tests specimens from patients who are undergoing treatment, to monitor the efficacy of that treatment. However, these definitions are often blurred. Training for either type of laboratory work will include courses in general anatomy, physiology, bacteriology, serology, microbiology, histology, and laboratory testing procedures. Classes in lab safety and quality control will also be required.
