The University of Kansas (KU) is a multi-campus teaching and research facility with its main campus high atop Mount Oread in the pretty city of Lawrence. Schools at KU range from Architecture and Urban Design to Fine Arts to Medicine and Law. The university is very supportive of the performing and visual arts, with several museums and concert venues on campus. Athletics play an important role at the school as well.

Wichita State University is one of the few state-supported schools in Kansas that can be found in the middle of a metropolitan area. The university offers in excess of 60 undergraduate degree programs in more than 200 areas of study in six undergraduate colleges. The Graduate School offers a large selection as well, including 56 Master's degrees in more than 100 areas.
