With its vast plains and many lakes and rivers, Oklahoma offers college students an opportunity to study in a state that boasts plenty of outdoor recreational activities. Aside from spending lots of time outside, however, students can also enjoy a wealth of museums and attractions and a culture rich in both Native American and cowboy history.

Highly regarded among colleges in Oklahoma, the University of Tulsa is a private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. The school enrolls about 4,000 students and boasts 58 undergraduate, 33 graduate, and 10 doctoral programs. The Princeton Review places the University of Tulsa among the top 10 for those colleges having the happiest students and best quality of life while on campus! Students are involved in advanced research projects as early as freshman year and the student/faculty ratio is just 11:1.

The University of Oklahoma's main campus is in Norman, outside of Oklahoma City, and is often listed among the top 100 Best Value schools. The Norman campus is home to all the university's programs except for those that are health-related. Students will find those in Tulsa and in downtown Oklahoma City. The school has 19 colleges offering 147 majors at the baccalaureate level, 152 majors at the master's level, 80 majors at the doctoral level, 35 majors at the first professional level, and eight graduate certificates. The Oklahoma Sooners are part of the Big 12 Conference and have earned many national titles.

Oklahoma State University is a multi-campus system that offers undergraduate, graduate, technical, extension, and continuing education programs. With a continuing emphasis on agriculture, appropriate for this state, Oklahoma State University has Agricultural Experiment Stations placed throughout Oklahoma. Statewide enrollment is about 30,000 and campuses are located in Stillwater, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Okmulgee. There's also a Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa and a School of Veterinary Medicine in Stillwater.
