About Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Colleges:
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) help to rehabilitate people with difficulties talking or swallowing as a result of disease, injury, or physical impairment. They may also help people with normal speech physiology to eliminate undesirable accents or speech abnormalities. They usually work on an individual base with a client, administering oral tests and exercises to diagnose and correct such problems. According to the US Department of Labor, about 94,000 persons worked in this field in 2002 and the rate of job growth is expected to outpace most other health professions.
